safety research often refers to behaviours like sycophancy or sandbagging as if they were atomic traits. but given how complex and varied these behaviours are, they're more likely compositions of smaller, measurable traits.

i want to understand how behaviours are composed, and whether we can decompose them into their atomic parts, so that control can be surgical rather than blunt.
